Chapter Eighteen

Kelly

I rubbed my eyes, not sure where I was for a minute. It was quiet and I was in an unfamiliar place. Then I saw the hulking man in the chair across from the bed, watching me. With a rush, everything came back to me.

Hotel. Check. Crazy good sex. Check. Big, bad ass biker. Check.

“Cain?”

“Yes, baby girl.”

“What time is it?”

“Just after midnight.”

I sat up abruptly.

“Oh, God, I’m sorry. I must have . . .”

“Passed out cold from coming so hard?”

I blushed and pulled the covers up to shield my breasts. I was naked. I could still feel his touch and I felt a little sticky below the waist. My hair was still damp too.

“Um . . . yes?”

He cracked a smile. I could see the white glint of his teeth in the dark room. It sent a shiver down my spine.

“Don’t worry. I got food.”

“How did you know I was hungry?”

I was hungry. Ravenous, really. And room service was probably closed by now.

He just shook his head.

“I always know what you need, Princess.”

“Oh.”

He kind of did, didn’t he? I couldn’t argue with that. He seemed to anticipate everything I needed, even if I didn’t realize I needed it.

“Scoot back. I need some room for this.”

I sat against the headboard, watching as he rolled in a cart and laid out trays on the bed. He poured me a drink and handed me a glass of sparkling water with lemon. He even had fresh ice.

He held up the remote and passed it to me.

“Pick a movie.”

I scanned the choices, realizing there were tons of flicks I had been dying to see. Two romcoms, an action flick, and a dystopian teen movie based on a book I had read.

“Some of these are still in the theaters!”

“Yeah. It’s a hotel thing.”

I nodded wisely, like I’d ever stayed in a fancy hotel before. This was crazy cool. The truth was, I was really impressed.

“Do you like action films?”

“Pick what you want.”

I was really wanting to watch the dystopian one but I knew he probably wouldn’t like it. I chewed my lip, deciding which movie would be least offensive to a guy like Cain. I really didn’t know what he liked. Well, in terms of music and movies, anyway. I definitely knew some things he liked, I thought with a blush.

“Kelly.”

I looked at him.

“I want to watch what you like. I don’t care what it is. I want to watch it with you because you like it. I want to learn what makes that brain of yours tick.”

“Are you sure?”

“Which one are you the most excited to see?”

“It’s about a futuristic society where people have to battle to the death for basic human rights. A bunch of teens get together and overthrow the government. Well, that happens in book two. Oh, and there’s a sexy bad guy who falls for the lead rebel girl.”

“Sounds interesting.”

“I read it when I was in high school. It’s probably kind of stupid if you’re over eighteen. I’ve been waiting to go see it in the theaters.
